Create a Pathology Request

Create a pathology request from the patient's record.

Procedure

To create a pathology request:
  1. From the PatientPatient Search or Patient Queue iconPatient Queue, select the Consult buttonConsult panel.
  2. In the Consult panel, click Pathology iconPathology.
  3. In the Pathology Request panel, record the tests required.

    1. In the Test(s) required field, start typing the test name or abbreviation. A list of matching available tests is displayed.

      Accepted synonyms are displayed in brackets.
    2. Select the required test or tests from the list.
    3. If required, add tests to your list of favourites:
      1. Click Save above test(s) as a favourite.
      2. In the Name of favourite field, enter the name you would like to use to identify the group of tests.
      3. Click Save. The test group is listed in the Favourites panel on the right. The list is sorted alphabetically.

      Tip: To information about the tests included in a test group, hovering your mouse over the Information icon next to the favourite name.

  4. In the Add clinical notes, add any clinical notes as necessary.

  5. In the Copy report to field, start typing the name of any practitioner to whom you want to send a copy of the report and select them in the list.

    If the required practitioner is not found, you can add them here.

  6. From the Requested date calendar, select the date on which the request was made.
  7. If required, set Request is urgent.
    The practice's phone and fax number are printed on the request.

  8. From the Pathology Labs list, select a pathology provider.

  9. To print the request, click Print.

Results

The request is printed and added to the Actions section of the Consult Panel.
