Migrated Data

Not all of your data will have been migrated. Some areas may have only been partially migrated from MedicalDirector Clinical to Helix or have not been migrated.

Functional Area Migration Details
Users or Logins User roles in MedicalDirector Clinical that did not match Helix are migrated to the Receptionist role.
Patient Demographics All the Active, Inactive, or Deceased patients in MedicalDirector Clinical are migrated. Inactive patients are migrated as Active patients.

If a patient has insufficient patient details, they will be categorised as a provisional patient.

The Gender field in MedicalDirector Clinical is migrated to Sex at birth in Helix. Transgender, Gender identity, and Pronoun values not supported in Helix are added to Patient Notes.

The patient's Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) is not migrated. However it is validated automatically with Services Australia using the patient's Medicare number when the patient record is opened and recreated.

The following details are not migrated to Helix:
  • Deceased patients - if the patient's deceased date is not recorded.
  • Ethnicity
  • Deleted or merged patient status
  • Next of Kin - only the phone numbers associated with a Next of Kin are migrated. Other details are not migrated.
  • Emergency contact
  • DVA validation
  • Safety net number
  • Regular practitioner
  • Pension status
  • Preferred mailing address and Same as residential options
  • Postcodes with fewer than 3 numbers are set to 0000.
  • Preferred contact is set to mobile by default.
  • SMS consent
  • Access restriction
  • Withdrawn My Health Record consent
  • Withdrawn MedicalDirector research data
Practice Details Practice details are added by members of the Telstra Health implementation team after consultation with your health service and are note migrated.
Clinical Notes Consult and Progress notes are migrated to Helix.

The Reason for contact is matched to a coded entry in Helix. If it can't be matched it is added to the progress note.

Consult times and dates may vary slightly.

Medications Medications and past prescriptions are migrated to Helix with the following caveats:
  • ePrescribing - electronic prescriptions are added to the Patient Timeline as paper prescriptions. HCPs won’t be able to see details of the ePrescription, resend them, see the status of sent ePrescriptions, delete them, or see all info.
  • LMBC - for medications included in the LMBC, the brand inclusion information is not migrated.
  • Prescriptions that meet the following conditions are not listed in the Current medications list in Helix:
    • Deleted prescriptions
    • Limited prescriptions with a prescription date older than 30 days.
Address Book Contacts Only the Clinical address book is migrated. The Practice Management address book details are not migrated, including institutional accounts, insurance and so on.
  • For specialties that could not be matched, a Warning iconwarning is displayed in the Clinical Management address book, Status column. Edit the address and select a speciality to replace **Invalid data**. Example migrated clinical addresses
  • Postcodes:
    • If there is no postcode in MedicalDirector Clinical, a postcode of 0000 is added to Helix.
    • Postcodes with three digits are prefixed with 0.
Centre All centres are assigned to the GP work area. Add other work areas such as, Dental, Occupational Health, Skin Cancer Clinic and so on.
Recalls Recalls created by HCPs, follow ups and the original reason for the recall are all migrated as Consultation and followup with the original reason included in the Recall Letter Notes. However, recalls assigned to other users and completed recalls are not migrated.

All migrated recall reasons which do not match with existing Helix recall reasons are added as text recalls. You can add recall reasons that existed in MedicalDirector Clinical to Helix in Centre Settings.

Immunisations Immunisations are migrated to Helix. However, if data is not found, the following values are set:
  • Sequence Number set as 0.
  • Batch number set as N/A - Migrated Immunisation.
Other immunisation details are migrated.
Recipes Details are not migrated to Helix.
Documents/Letters Migrated to Helix. Some file formats such as TXT, SCP and HTML are migrated as attached files which can be downloaded and viewed.
  • Document alignment does not exactly match with MedicalDirector Clinical.
  • Archived files cannot be viewed from the Patient Timeline.
  • Unrecognised documents are assigned to the Other document type.
Recognised Pathology Import File Extensions Not applicable for Helix.
Pap Smears Not applicable for Helix.
Auto-text Entries Details are not migrated to Helix.
Custom Patient Education Leaflets Details are not migrated to Helix.
Physical Activity Details are not migrated to Helix.
Patient Notes - Billing Details are not migrated to Helix.
Appointments The following details are not migrated to Helix:
  • Non-patient appointments
  • Appointments that were not assigned to a practice.
  • Banking
  • Letterheads
  • Doctor schedules or sessions timing
Telehealth appointment types are migrated to the Unsure/other type and telehealth links are not available after migration.
Referrals Details are not migrated to Helix.
MBS Items Details are not migrated to Helix.
Measurements Specific measurements are completely migrated to Helix:
  • INR
  • Body measurements and BMI
  • Cholesterol
  • Renal Function
  • Blood Glucose
  • Respiratory
  • Respiratory Vital Sign

Specific measurements containing non-numerical characters are migrated to Consult notes.

Non-specific measurements are not migrated.
